EIN Support

Get your EIN — no SSN required.

An EIN (Employer Identification Number) is your LLC's federal tax ID, issued by the IRS. It's the key that unlocks U.S. business banking, payment processing, and platform verification. We prepare Form SS-4 correctly and coordinate the non-resident route.

The two paths

How non-residents actually get an EIN.

The route depends on whether the responsible party has a U.S. taxpayer number.

Path 1 · You have an SSN or ITIN

You can usually apply through the IRS online tool and receive the EIN the same day. We confirm the entity details are correct before you apply.

Path 2 · No SSN or ITIN (most of our founders)

Form SS-4 is completed with your foreign details and submitted to the IRS by fax (faster) or mail. The IRS processes it manually and issues your EIN confirmation letter (CP 575). This is the standard route for foreign-owned LLCs — and where a correctly prepared form saves weeks of back-and-forth.

Why it matters

What your EIN unlocks.

U.S. business banking

Banks and fintechs require an EIN to open a business account for your LLC — it's the first field on every application.

Payment processing

Stripe, PayPal, and similar platforms ask for your EIN during business verification. (Their approval decisions remain their own.)

Marketplaces & tax forms

Amazon, app stores, and U.S. clients use your EIN for tax onboarding — including the W-9/W-8 forms clients send you.

EIN FAQ

EIN questions, answered honestly.

Can I really get an EIN without an SSN or ITIN?

Yes. The IRS issues EINs to foreign-owned LLCs whose responsible party has no SSN or ITIN — the application simply goes by fax or mail instead of the online tool. It's a standard, legal process; it just takes longer.

How long does the EIN take?

Fax applications typically take 2-8 weeks depending on IRS workload; mail can take longer. The IRS sets the timeline — no service can honestly promise a faster date, and we won't.

What is a "responsible party"?

The individual who controls the entity — usually you, the founder. Their legal name and foreign address go on Form SS-4. This information goes to the IRS, not onto public state records.

Do I need a U.S. phone number or address for the EIN?

No. Form SS-4 accepts a foreign address, and the IRS can fax or mail the confirmation letter (CP 575). We help you receive it cleanly in your deck.

Will LLCDeck sign the SS-4 for me?

No — the responsible party signs. We prepare the form correctly, coordinate the submission, and track the process, but we don't act as the applicant. That keeps your EIN cleanly in your name.
